A kitchen is not a place for a man
Ancient prejudice, more pervasive than that one saying a woman cannot drive a car. Of course things are not as some years ago when we were gently pushed off out of the kitchen. Now being a cook is pretty cool. What was even seen as a sissy thing it is now a real man’s virtue.
But anything from a man, especially if a beginner, is still seen with suspicion and irony.
Not to mention the unavoidable questions “Have you washed your hands?” and “What did you put inside of it?”
What makes all of the effort worthwhile is the surprise of the friends after a good meal. Or the kindliness of the friends saying that everything was perfect. If you think about this, you’ll see it has its value too.
